Script for PPPOE clients Update

Tue Nov 15, 2011 4:49 pm

Hi

I have a problem where some of my clients requires an public IP on my network, and whenever 1 of my clients power drops, the pppoe session stays open, regardless of Timeout or not, when the clients then dials in again it get assigned the same ip address as the session that is open allready.

Now I started using dns names to the static ip my Mikrotik board is assigning my clients, problem is as soon as my clients power drops again, the ip changes and my dns wont resolve.

Is there any script that I can run that can check my clients ip every few minutes and change that in my dns records?

thanks

I think you want do something strange !!!!!!
If you have problem with assign public IP to your PPPoE clients, there must be some solution , but Can you explain more clearly?
What are your configurations? Then there may be a solution for that.

Fewi says:
Specific answers require specific questions. When in doubt, post the output of "/ip address print detail", "/ip route print detail", "/interface print detail", "/ip firewall export", and an accurate network diagram.

I want to be able to assign an DNS name to my pppoe clients, that gets an dynamic address each time they dial in?

How do I do that?

So use static IP for each user instead of sing Pool.
