Network/CPE Management System (Finally in development!!!)

Wed Sep 07, 2011 1:37 am

The idea of the Network/Client/CPE Management system for MikroTik/UBNT devices emerged from the ubnt forum.

This is now in full time development by our developer and some dudes who like good looking interfaces.

Why?
-Because no one wants to share/sell/license & support there in house panels.
-Systems such as p0werc0de/ Radius Manager 3 is more focused on billing/hotspots.
-ispadmin is glitchy and language is limited

Describe this "system" of yours.
There will be two sides to this management system, The ADMIN side and the CLIENT side.

ADMIN SIDE
Admin side will let you Provision clients, Update/ ADD AP's, CPE's to network, IP's, Firewalls, Routes vlans, wireless AP settings, graphing, you name it.

CLIENT SIDE
Clients will be able to change settings such as Account password, CPE Ethernet, DHCP, VPN's Firewall, DNS servers, Port forwards, View traffic usage, DHCP leases etc

User/Admin logs into web interface (front end), dose what they need to do, click save&apply and the backend scripts do the rest (Eg update mikrotik hardware via api etc.

What devices will be supported?
This is being designed for MikroTik based networks due to its features and routing capabilities

Ubiquiti will be supported to some extent, where also waiting to see what there replacing aircontrol with, THEN we can do something.

Will it do billing?
Billing may be added later, Although a usage API will become available for your own billing systems such as WHMCS.

Will this system be hosted by you?
No, it'll be setup on a VPS or Server of your choice at your location.

Whats it going to cost me?
We'll wait for Beta testing to decide that. Not to much

When will it be available?
We hope to have it in Beta testing mid November and something stable released around xmas!

Other Notes: (Add later)

If you have any questions/suggestions please PM me or reply in this forum!

Sounds interesting!
I would like to see something like this integrated/combined with the dude
to avoid double data entry and to have one tool for monitoring/upgrade
of devices. Maybe an API/Plugin Interface to exchange information with
the dude?

CPEs should be a TAB in the Devices-Window.
And there I would like to say "Device please update to version X once you are up again"
and "Please change parameter xy".

I would pay for an enhanced Dude. If Dude wouldn't be there I've to
pay for another tool doing its (great) job.anyway.

PHP for front end.
Any particular web development framework?
and some sneaky back end scripting, linux based.
I'm curious to know the reason for this.

Imaybe interested in assisting, depending on current time constraints. PM me on the UBNT forums. I'm registered there under the same username.

Over year and half has passed away...and there is no other post from anyone... How is going your project? Is there any web site where we can see it?

Sasha
