Dude on mulitple Servers monitoring different networks

Mon Jul 28, 2008 12:22 pm

I understand that you can have more than one dude server on a network with each one monitoring different parts of the network.

我如何设置它以及如何do I get these diferent servers to show on my local dude?

Can I take my current dude and split it in half and have one half run on one server and the other half on another server.

Is there a manual that explains this?

Thanks

so, make a new map for each of your networks. when discovering - specify the Agent that you will use. Agent is the device that does the monitoring - ie. Dude Server

(same thing as Sergejs said)

It seems I end up answering my own questions! In case anybody else wants to know I will explain how I set it up and anybody can help if there is a better way.

Make sure the agents you want to use have the dude package installed. Then in dude go to settings and add the agent with default admin and no password. Or login to that router with dude and create a password under admins. There might be an easier way.

When the agent is setup you can go into dude and double click on the device and choose which agent must monitor it.

I can't really see that it took any load of the links I hoped it would.

Any comments?

Put less things on your device labels, set your label update interval to a longer time between updates, Set services to ignored for the ones you don't really have to have. Don't use auto discovery or set the interval to a long time between.

How much bandwidth is being used by polling?

My server looks like it averages about 500kbsp using mostly ssh, telnet, ping, and a few others with nothing but the name on the label.
