I having been supplying my rural customers with a basic setup consisting of an SXT LTE mounted on a pole up on the roof with a cable down to an HAP AC router providing Wireless coverage to the house.

I have a customer who really wants to use a specific 4G provider that doesnt work on band 3 or 7, so I am trying to find out what kit options are out there for me to build something similar to the standard setup with the SXT.

I was looking at something like an RB912 with a miniPCIe 4G card in it, but what I can get my head round is how I can get the antenas for the 4G component up on the roof of the house to maximize the signal.

Any help on this would be really appreciated.

Yup i was hoping to try to understand which option for self build would support an external 4G antenna to maximize signal strength from up high.

You will have to find an outdoor housing for it, a modem, and an antenna for the frequency you will use. Ebay has plenty of options.

Sierra cards work well if you need high gain antenna and also just USB huwai works well if you don't need high gain antenna.

1. Will it support LTE band 20 (800MHz) ?
2. What about LTE antenna - is it directional, how much gain, etc. ?

We will have different models, one of them will support band 20. Antenna is omnidirectional 2-4.5dBi (800MHz-2.7GHz) depending on band.

With the wAP LTE KIT, will the LTE module be included by Mikrotik or will it be up to the Distributor to bundle one ?

Im curious, as we have tested countless mini PCI-e modules and have had varying success, even within different models from the same vendor.
e.g.
Sierra 7710 works perfectly in LTE mode and is stable
Sierra 7304 works in PPP mode only and is unstable

Oh, and if Mikrotik are going to supply a module. Will this be available to order separately so it can be added to existing RouterBoards ?

Will one of the modem options for the wAP LTE support band B28 by any chance?

Support for LTE Band 43 would be great.

Since the wAP LTE has a miniPCIe slot with the modem in it, it will be easy to swap out the modem with any other model, that RouterOS supports. Giving you ability to have any bands you need.

Whilst having the option of adding our own modem is great, I notice mikrotik does not have support for any mini-pcie modems on B28. Is it possible to use an M.2 to mini-PCIe adaptor and a card such as the Huawei ME906s-158 M.2?

Hi all, I have quite same problem, I would like to create an access point (AP) in a garden that use a mobile internet provider 3g/3.5/ 4g, I seen the Mikrotik Base box2 that supports standard WI-Fi 2400 MHz b/g/n, I would like to know which does miniPCIe modem 3g /3.5g/4g mikrotik or 3rd party product is supported or suggested? I would like to use the Base Box2 to install wired and wireless IPcam, I would like to know wich additional antenna for Wi-Fi and and for 3g/4g provider you suggest to use, the provider is in Italy so the radio frequencies modem should be 800 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2600 MHz, 3400-3600 MHz (Vodafone, TIM, H3g, WIND, Linkem); For example is it supported modem miniPCI Huawei ME909u-521
