RouterOS v4 released

日星期二2009年10月13日12:06点

What's new in 4.0:

*) IT87XX hardware monitoring sensor support;
*) kvm allows to choose emulated nic model;
*) hotspot - fixed redirect after login in case if client gets new IP address
(problem introduced in 3.28);
*) hotspot - fixed redirect after login in case if client gets new IP address;
*) console - commands like 'monitor', 'torch' and others that periodically
refresh information sometimes failed to work when started from
the scheduler;
*) console - scheduled scripts no longer require 'test' policy to run;
*) console - fix issues with scripts that contain lines with trailing spaces;
*) console - add back compatibility with old scripts that use space instead
of '=' to separate argument name and value;
*) console - following fixes:
- accept item numbers when prompted by command to specify item;
- argument names without '=' were matched even when expecting unnamed
value; this broke code such as:
:foreach i in=1,2,3 do {}
这里的“我”是作为参数匹配的名字“中”;
- 'tab' key did not automatically append '=' after complete argument
names;
any success upgrade story are welcome:)

When I launch netinstall from my router (an RB450), it finds the machine that runs netinstall, and the error I have attached appears ("recvfom failed: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. (10054)"). When clicking Ok netinstall closes. The router seems not to notice and tries to fetch the image, yet nothing happens. Even if I start up netinstall again, the router will never get to the point where it installs.

the link works but data not updated

it is the last data i have

What's new in 4.0rc1:

*) incorporated all the bugfixes since v3.30;
*) port remote-access - added 'log-file' property. If value is a non-empty
string, then all data that is read from the port is appended to a file
with that name, regardless of the active remote connection;
*) console - removed '/user' from the output of top level '/export' command,
still can be exported by '/user export';

should look somthing like this if im correct

level4 lic

Tue Oct 13, 2009 8:12 pm

Just to confirm - buying any board with level4 - after Oct-13 2009 - entitles one to free upgrade to ROS V5 correct?

thanks.

And if so, how do you handle upgrades on distributor inventory?:|

I would like to suggest that all Mikrotik RouterBoards which are not EOL, are moved up to the new license levels. (all RB/CRD, RB4xx, RB6xx, RB750 and RB1000.) That would solve my inventory issue. You can leave RB/CRD out if necessary because that is using the older RB1xx series MIPS processor.

Upgrade to 4.0 on x86 cleaned out all the gateway/gateway interfaces in my routes.

So the routes are still there but they reference nothing, so nuffin is working.......

Eish.

Nb, my own server so not a client's but still worth knowing about.

The question however is: how are you going to determine eligibility forfreeROSV5upgrade for hardware with level 4 lic purchased since current version of ROS is V4. (and perhaps, if it matters hardware still comes with v3 preinstalled)

Is OS version 4.x more CPU intensive then 3.x? On a heavy loaded PPPoE server we have seen an increase in CPU load but we changed out hardware at same time so not sure.

Just an update. I removed and added back the routes and yet the gateway interface option just seems to disappear with time.

I can't tell you when it vanishes but it does. I will send support a supout but for now it's back to 3.30 as 4.0 is completely unusable.

btw, Netinstall of v4 still contains 'MIKROTIK ROUTEROS V3 SOFTWARE ROUTER SYSTEM' license

isn't it time to remove version from the license? when v3 was released, there was license about v2 in it ))

I was excited to see the temperature monitoring, and it does work correctly in the terminal.

However I can't bring up the numbers in SNMP, they just show as zero. Is there another OID to use? I want to add a notification with The Dude for an overtemperature alarm.

我们的孩子们l look into this. edit: apparently what you got over SNMP is temperature values for RB230 (old product), SNMP support for PC is not yet made, there are some difficulties with it.

Support has confirmed that this is a bug in winbox and will be fixed in 4.1

I think it only applies to x86.

Yes that is my experience. Had me fooled for some time, I've learnt to trust winbox over the years and never thought to check via ssh or terminal.

Ok - from rock-an-roll to singin the blues.
I just instructed our engineers to roll back v4.1- to v3.30

We've been noticing a ripple across the network and figured v4.1 would fix it - no go.

It would drop 1 on the primaries and 2 on the next tower and 3-10 on the towers and cpes after that.

This started 2weeks ago with the update of v4rc - v4 helped some it seemed and v4.1 didn't make a difference.

Of course the network slowed to a crawl - and of course the complaints have rolled in.

Here's hoping v3.30 takes us back.

Can you clarify... I have some 2.9.50 installs I tried to upgrade to v4 and I can't because it tells me so when I try in the log.
