I suspect this may have actually made it worse. One of the gripes was that a sub menu list was too long to view in a small screen. Now whilst the top level menu options are fewer, the sub-menus are now way too long.

We would still like to have the following modifications to the webbox user interface, which we have requested repeatedly with no progress:

1. Support for station pseudobridge and station pseudobridge clone mode in the wireless interface page (add to drop down list)
2. Support for enable nstreme in the wireless interface page (check box)
3. Support for port forwarding in the firewall page (simple table like how access-list works)

With these three changes, the webbox interface would be an excellent CPE tool. Pretty much everything a basic installer would need without any complexity.

Re: RouterOS V3.25 released

after upgrading to 3.25 everything that belongs to hotspot info on logs shows i.e.: "hotspot warning debug" in blue text, "hotspot error info debug" in red text, "hotspot accounting info debug" in black and so on... every time a user login on hotspot

the message in blue says: "accounting request not sent: no response"
the message in red says: "accounting stop request not sent: no response"

and this is the radius log:
Tue Jun 16 14:24:12 2009 : Error: Discarding conflicting packet from client TESTE port 59148 - ID: 33 due to recent request 9081.
Tue Jun 16 14:24:12 2009 : Error: Discarding duplicate request from client TESTE port 59148 - ID: 33 due to unfinished request 9081
Tue Jun 16 14:24:11 2009 : Info: rlm_radutmp: NAS TESTE restarted (Accounting-On packet seen)
Tue Jun 16 14:24:11 2009 : Auth: Login OK: [ozz] (from client TESTE port 2148532228 cli 00:14:44:74:E4:3C
Just dunno what is this, but people are connecting and accounting ok. Is that really OK?

AGAIN, Im going to prove a point with MT and how they dont test there stuff properly..
This is why all our CPEs are still running v2.9.51 and all our routers are several v3 releases behind the current, and only upgraded to a later if the "what's new" of subsequent ones don't reveal any 'fixed' problems with it.

Mikrotik cannot test for every likely scenario. It's not in their best business interest to test old boards. RB133s are ancient. It's like expecting Windows Server 2008 to run on a Pentium III.

Started upgarding 20 RB133,s and noticed the problem after third one. so 3 on 3 bad=YOUR PROBLEM, TEST AND FIX
Only an idiot would start to roll out a new OS barely minutes old on 20 live and critical routers.

update: unit seems completly frozen cause customer can not access unit at all following my instructions. nothing shows up in winbox and hes not behind a router.censored
I think you should rather expend your energy for using your brain and apply a little bit of common sense.

Agreed, but... If 3.25 is marked as 'release' rather than 'beta' or 'release candidate', I think it is reasonable that the user should assume that it has been tested and found working.

If a firmware version has not been tested on a board or is not compatible with the board, then the installation of that firmware should fail as incompatible or the firmware should be explicitly labeled as untested.

That having been said, any IT person worth their salt would do a test install before undertaking a mass roll-out.

Hi,
I've just loaded combined-package of 3.25 into RB433 and RB411, that I'm going to install in just a few days, but I've noticed a strange thing... After upgrading, there were only 4 packages installed: ipv6 (disabled), routerboard, routing-test (disabled) and system, nothing more, nothing less... Is it a new and proper behaviour of combined packages? Anyone else experienced that?

BTW. IMHO at first glance new menu layout in winbox kinda sucks ;/

Exactly. MT has redefined what stable means. Perhaps we need another version: super-stable and tested.

Point taken, but my common sense tells me that when you click RB model then latest STABLE release and it gives you a file,,,, should one not expect the release to be STABLE and usable.??????????? To me that seems like just common sense no?? I mean STABLE should mean tried, tested and true...... What does stable mean in your world??

and someone mentioned that they cant test every possible scenerio.... ITS A DAMN UPGRADE PROCEDURE, what kind of scenerio is that????? Would seem like thats the FIRST test thing one would do... NO? LOLOLOL

OH and look at this post, seems same issue with rb433 as well, its my understanding that this is not an obsolete board......................................................................

Ain't that the truth! In my early days with RouterOS, I had a problem where remote PPTP clients on the same subnet could not comminucate with the other LAN computers. A simple Proxy-ARP issue but the reseller here in South Africa (M) had no clue. I was even put through to their official Mikrotik trainer who gladly takes your money in return for 'theory' training. He didn't have a clue of course!

Last week I phoned to enquire about the new 433UAH boards. "No problem" they say, "plenty of those". "Cases?" say I. "Of course, plenty of 433 cases in stock" says the sales guy. I then hinted that "the new boards have onboard USB ports which surely need additional connectors on the case". "Um, oh dear, yes you must be right, gee we didn't think of that" was the mumbled reply.

I may as well just import the stuff myself.........

Yet again - "stable, not stable" discussion.....
It is at least 5th time someone starts this discussion.

Bottom line of previous discussions was:

"Rapid development of software have advantages and disadvantages, be aware of them and learn to live with them."

MT is working like this for years, try to get some fix/feature request from Cisco:)- it can take up to year. Here everything happens fast, and more you talk/provide information to MT, the better they get. SO you get a feeling that you are part of development, par of community - sorry, but I like it the way it is:)

好,最好to stick with a version that all used functions are stable, until next one is released.

firefox installed, supposedly stable, but its crashes on my machine every few minutes. its the only thing that ever crashes on my PC. exactly as Chupaka said, it's stable in their environment : )

Would all of this be put to rest if there was just a text warning on the download page that says 'releases are considered stable after 2 weeks w/ no additional releases'.

By that standard all current RB hardware would be shipping with unstable firmware....:D
