The OP does not want to break out, he just wants to connect to Q ports with the simple 40G DAC she has.

I think Mikrotik automatically configures the Q ports according to what you plug in.

Chips would have to be made that support configuring a port as 1x Base-T or 4x Base-T1.

On products from some other brands you have to execute a command to configure a Q port as 1x, 2x, or 4x.

Re: Mikrotik VDSL / DSL Modem?

如果it is impossible to replace the modem router the ISP provides you're stuck with it. Even stuck in NAT mode.

You may be allowed to replace their box but you have to accept a VOIP liability, so I would not.

It is not true that most modems and routers are hidden in a home.

LTE is just slow here with all providers. It has nothing to do with the equipment or issues.

3G is simply unusable.

I noticed big slowdowns today on several sites (wired). I assumed it was all the people at home.

Re: WPA2 preshared key brute force attack

Not a single Mikrotik hardware uses Cypress or Broadcom wireless chipset, so answer is clearly NO.
People have other devices too.

Re: Radical change coming for home and small business networking

Why would the ISP need these "micronets" to control their router and TV box?

They seem to bring nothing to the people here.

OK, some do not need to use a modem or router provided by the ISP. Or even a TV box.

Clutter is here to stay with cable.

Re: WPA2 preshared key brute force attack

Likely already patched if you don't have abandonware.

Only Cypress and Broadcom WiFi was found to be affected.

The only cheaper things I had seen were a 32-port HP for 6K or some modules.

Another big hole revealed today.

1 billion devices affected. How much abandonware?

"You can just use WPA3"

I have an alternative question: would you spend more than 10K ?

Re: what happened to NetPower

Mikrotik has used P in a Fast Ethernet router name, but not as a Fast Ethernet port count designator.

Possibilities:

- Too much text in the slide
- They forgot to write gigabit
- They confusingly used P instead of FP as a port count designator

Re: RB3011UiAS is very Slow

如果it's a simple configuration, the 2011 can reach what you're getting. The 3011 should easily manage one gigabit.

Re: FTTH very slow download speed (upload ok)

The 2011 can switch gigabit but not route it, period.
That is why you have Fastpath/Fasttrack made available by Mikrotik.
Fasttrack cannot make the 2011 route gigabit.

You actually need it just to reach 500Mbps.

It seems it can go somewhat further.

提到的其他产品定价是一个demonstration of why consumers and SOHO need modern network equipment, notion that was challenged here.

Re: multigigabit desktop router

I am happy Mikrotik made me wait because it seems this DOCSIS 3.1 deployment still has problems.
So only now I learn about broken Intel cable platforms.
