Re: Newsletter June 2021 (#100)

>> Many of you know that I am a total Mikrotik fan , but this lack of information and lack of product is wearing thin and is going to force me to look at other non-Mikrotik products to find a solution for --> 6 GHz band (5.925–7.125 GHz)

countless options you have, right ?

Re: No internet connection with MikroTik HAP ac lite 500Mbit/s

Ciao Carlo ! your router has assigned IP address 192.168.88.1 on interface Ether2 (this is where you should connect your wired internal network) and at the same time, your DNS configuration shows the same 192.168.88.1 IP address as DNS server. Nothing else. What happens is your router asks your rout...

Re: LHG 60G experience

dare to share any worst collocation setup you have ? I'm interested in couple of short 60GHz and it really seems like that lower channels are serious garbage due to oxygen/rain. This is of course not LHG 60G limited, I'm generally interested in any 60GHz experience. Sure I know crappy plastic LHG is...

Tom, what locks up ? Is it the x86 ROS virtual machine or is the whole physical server crashing under the load ? Can you post DETAILED information about your HW config especially about NW cards their models etc, versions of BIOS, ILO/DRAC card firmware if you have HP/Dell hardware (or equivalent of ...

Re: PPTP between two Mikrotiks

Let me resurrect semi-dead topic and react to advice provided: - make pptp connection on both mt - make bridge interface on both mt - make eoip interface on both mt and use pptp ip for eoip remote-address - put eoip and local-ethernet on the same bridge on each mt guys, I noticed it so many times he...

Though I wouldn't change the dvswitch settings (doesn't matter if author has distributed vSwitch or standard vSwitch - because this will change DEFAULT behavior which influences ALL virtual machines, seems like author of this topic has only one port group for virtual machines there so...

Re: intel x520-SR2 10Gbps with x86

99.999999% people are using those soap boxes called routerboards, hoping for and dreaming about 600Mbps+ wireless performance. That's the reality. You would have hard time trying to find people on x86 platforms. Unfortunately there is not too much to rely on other people and I can't advice you, too,...

feature request for v6.x : FTP client

sometimes people need to download something to mikrotik in order to have it available on internal FTP server. Not everybody is using mikrotiks on routerboards, there are some big x86 installations with terabytes of disk space:)

should be extremely easy to implement.

Re: Mikrotik 3g watchdog

solution for you should be a hardware device that will cut off power for example each night at 04:00am for one minute. This way your Mikrotik device INCLUDING 3G modem will be rebooted every night. 1) if everything was working correctly before, it will just introduce a approx. two minute downtime (o...

Re: l2tp reconnects every few minutes.

my apologies for not replying for a month - changeip is right, there has to be something with the 3G connection. No other explanation here... I tried to implement a script to ping L2TP server from every L2TP client. I played around with frequency and length of pings, but achieved nothing worth speak...

Re: l2tp reconnects every few minutes.

In about two hours, there was NO SINGLE drop-out when I connected those two routers via ethernet. There would be many disconnections already via 3G connection. Go figure... I just don't know. There are really no drop-outs on 3G connection I'm using, 10 pings out of 10000, /interface ppp-client shows...

I have identical issue. RB411U connecting to RB493U. L2tp server + client, no ciphering, tried v5.6 and v5.7. Mikrotiks are located on the same table, but the intention is to create 3G network over the country. RB411 has 3G modem huawei 1752, connection is absolutely stable and does not drop. There ...

Re: 802.11n

I second this idea ; I was setting up and aligning both links with standard 802.11a cards and then replacing them with 802.11n just because there is no individual signal strength incidator. At least I didn't find one.

throughput is not just matter of signal ; throughput mainly depends on interference in the air and several much more important factors than strength of signal alone.
