How to setup a server to use a Public IP address inside the network without using NAT

Hi there We have a /29 publicly addressable IP range provided by our ISP and I’m looking for some advice on the best way to setup one of our servers. For most of them we’ve been able to assign private IP addresses to them and use src/dst NAT’ing to make it work with a the public IP address we have a...

Thanks. I was hoping there was some way I could do it without having to pull everything apart but sadly it would appear not.

Mapping Interface cards to physical ports - RB600A

Hi there I have a RB600A which has wireless cards installed into all 4 miniPCI slots on the board. The miniPCI slots are numbered J501, J502, J503 and J504. Within the RouterOS I am trying to work out how to determine which wireless card is installed in which miniPCI slot. I can see the PCI address ...

Possible PPP Bug in Version 6.29.1

Hi there After upgrading to Version 6.29.1 on an RB600, I have found that my PPP secrets disappear whenever I reboot. The particular routerboard that this has been happening on has been working trouble free for a number of years and hasn't had any configuration changes made in a long time. This hasn...

Thoughts on whether to upgrade a RB532A to 6.X

Hi there We have an old RB532A which is still in production and working very well. It's no longer a front line device but performs some back end functions which are useful. It's a great example of how reliable the Routerboard hardware is, despite the age of the device. It's currently running RouterO...

5GHz-only-N doesn't appear to work on R52n

Hi there I've been running a R52n card in my RB600A and have had positive experiences so far. I run the card on the 5GHz band as there is a lot of 2.4GHz networks in my area and reliability on the 2.4GHz band isn't so good. Currently I have the card configured for 5GHz-a/n and everything works well ...

Hi there I want to transfer a data file that some other scripts I have written create, from a Mikrotik Router to a non Mikrotik FTP Server using a script and scheduling it to run on a periodic basis or to run when certain conditions are satisfied. In essence I want the Mikrotik Router to act as an F...

Random loss of routing after upgrading to ROS 3.27

Hi There I'm running a 532A routerboard which has been quite a reliable board for me. After upgrading to ROS 3.27 a few days ago, I've now had 2 seamingly random events where the router appears to be running fine, but all routing between subnets stops. Nothing of note appears in the logs and you can...

Routing seems to pause on RouterOS 3.16 under load

Hi there I'm running a RouterBoard 532A with a daughterboard installed and since we upgraded to 3.16 from 3.9 we have noticed an unusual problem which seems to happen when there is moderate traffic loads (500kbit/s) between two routed interfaces. What seems to happen is that every 20-30 minutes the ...

Re: A question about CCQ

Ahhh, that would explain it then as both cards use the Atheros chipset. I'm guessing the CCQ is partially derived from the speed at which the cards have associated at which explains the variation.

Thanks:-)

Re: A question about CCQ

and I should probably note that when the link carries a heavy traffic load the wireless speed does in general remain solid at 54MBit. The momentary associations at lower speeds are much more common when the link is quiet.

Re: A question about CCQ

No, the rate at which the link associates is very stable and generally it sits at 54MBit/54MBit. You will see it momentarily drop to 48MBit every couple of minutes, and very rarely you might see it drop to 6MBit, although the % CCQ doesn't appear to change much at all when the link momentarily assoc...

Problems with rolling from V3.0RC6 back to 2.9.X - RB532

Hi there I recently tried upgraded my RB532 from 2.9.49 to 3.0RC6 and decided that I would roll back to a known stable release after having some stability issues. The downgrade process has not been a happy one and in the end the only way I've been able to get my RB532 working again is to go back to ...

Keep up the good work on the testing:-)

Hi T3C All routers will introduce a small overhead as they strip the MAC addresses off the packet, examine the TCP/IP header to determine the route, and then re-encapsulate the packet with new MAC addresses for the destination subnet. Having said this, and assuming you mean a performance degradation...
